I British Academy Film Awards vengono conferiti ogni anno, a partire dal 1947, alle migliori produzioni cinematografiche; a capo della giuria troviamo la British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), la quale assegna meticolosamente quello che è stato considerato l’equivalente inglese del Premio Oscar.
BAFTA 2016: la sessantanovesima edizione
L’assegnazione dell’ambitissimo premio si tiene, a partire dal 2000, al cinema Odeon sulla Leicester Square. Inizialmente la cerimonia si svolgeva nei mesi di maggio e giugno ma, a partire dal 2002 si è deciso di spostare la premiazione nel mese di Febbraio, pochi giorni prima dell’assegnazione del Premio Oscar.
Quest’anno spiccano prepotentemente alcune pellicole sopra le altre: “Carol” e “Il ponte delle spie” hanno ricevuto 9 nomination ciascuno, seguite da “The Revenant – Redivivo”, con otto nominations. Sette nominations invece per “Mad Max: Fury Road” e ben sei per “Brooklyn” e “Sopravvissuto – The Martian”.
Anche “La Grande Scommessa”, “The Danish Girl” ed “Ex Machina” non mollano comunque la presa, presentandosi con ben cinque nomination ciascuno, seguite dalle quattro di “Star Wars – il Risveglio della Forza”.
